Stop smoking sessions are my passion and the main reason I initially became interested in hypnotherapy having used this technique to successfully quit the habit after two decades.

It is no exaggeration to claim my decision to get hypnotised that day literally was a life changer.

Like a lot of people I foolishly began smoking young at the age of 15, continuing throughout my 20s and mid 30s before finally deciding enough was enough and arranged a stop smoking hypnotherapy appointment.

A few hours later I emerged as a non-smoker and remain one today.

I cannot emphasise enough how your own desire and determination to break the habit once and for all really is the key factor to long-term success when booking a stop smoking session – because it is not a magic wand.

Good. I will explain briefly how it works then.

Stop smoking sessions consist of two separate parts.

This is the only hypnotherapy I do not provide online via FaceTime or Skype, the reason being because it can be quite an intense and in depth session where you will be given a lot of information at the initial consultation and the following week at the stop smoking session.

Therefore I prefer to do it face-to-face.

Initial consultation

At the initial consultation I will ask you a series of questions about your smoking habit and what your usual triggers are to light up a cigarette.

I will ascertain a lot of details about your history as a smoker, why you want to stop now, whether you have tried in the past to break the habit and what led you to go back on the cigarettes if you have made an unsuccessful attempt to quit before.

Over the next week I will use all of these details to produce a hypnotherapy script specifically for you.

Once I have all of this information, I will then explain how the brain works in relation to smoking.

The habit is 90% mental and only 10% physical, something which might come as a bit of a surprise to a long-term smoker who has wrongly convinced themselves they are as ‘addicted’ as a heroin user or alcoholic.

I will reveal why the primitive emotional mind can be a strong advocate for promoting dangerous and illogical habits like smoking.

Chemicals in cigarettes deplete our natural flow of serotonin, so a medium to long-term smoker is far more likely to suffer from anxiety or depression disorders than a non-smoker.

I will tell you exactly what you need to do to get your serotonin production levels back to normal as quickly as possible and how this will prove hugely beneficial both in the short and long-term, especially in those first few smoke free days.

Payment is made at the initial consultation and we will aim to get you booked in one week later for the actual hypnotherapy session, during which time you will be expected to reduce your current daily cigarette consumption.

I will also give you a copy of my relaxation CD to listen to in the run up to the big day to help improve your confidence.

What to expect on the big day

In the second part of the process you will undergo hypnosis.

I will briefly talk you through the brain based theory once again and answer any questions you might have come up with since the initial consultation.

Then the hypnotherapy will begin and this usually lasts between 40 and 45 minutes.

Before you leave I will go over the health benefits of quitting now – and remember you are never too old to stop.

You will already have the relaxation CD from the initial consultation and I will remind you to continue listening to this in the coming days, weeks and months ahead until you finally get fed up the sound of my voice!

The CD isn’t related directly to smoking but it doesn’t need to be because by now you are fully ready to resume your life again as a committed and determined non-smoker.
